Risks of landslides have occurred in several places in the Central Province as a result of the prevailing bad weather. Our correspondents say already minor landslides have already occurred in Harangala at Kothmale, Pussellawa and several places near the Gampola – Kurunduwatta road. The Divisional Secretariats advise the people who are residing in the areas of Udapalatha in Gampola, Pasbage in Nawalapitiya and Ganga Ihala Koralaya to be on alert as landslides can occur. The water levels of the Mahaweli River and the Kothmale tank is also rising due to the heavy showers experienced in the area. |
