India vs Sri Lanka, 2nd ODI today at Kandy.

India will once again be expected to be at their best when they take on a Sri Lanka in the second one day international, today. India won the first match in Dambulla by nine wickets. Chief coach Nic Pothas pointed out in no uncertain terms that all is not well within the team. However, skipper Upul Tharanga says Sri Lanka will try its level best to win this match.

Pakistan will host a World eleven series Cricket

The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed that a World eleven series will take place in Lahore after the Punjab Government approved 'Presidential level security' for the week-long tour. A 15-man squad comprising players from all top Test-playing countries led by Andy Flower as coach will undergo a seven day camp in Dubai before travelling to Lahore for a three-match T20 series starting from September 10.

India beat Sri Lanka in teh first ODI

India won the 1st ODI against Sri Lanka by 9 wickets. India won the toss and elected to field first. Accordingly Sri Lanka were bowled out for mere 216 in 44 overs. India in reply reached the victory target losing only 1 wicket. India won this match convincingly by 9 wickets with more than 100 balls to spare.

First ODI between Sri Lanka and India will be held today


Sri Lanka will be attempting to get the best out of former captain and all-rounder Angelo Mathews as they take on India in the first of five one-day internationals at the Rangiri Dambulla Stadium under lights today. Mathews has not bowled since being sidelined by a calf injury during the ICC Champions Trophy in May and has played in the side only as a batsman.


India rise to No. 1 in Test rankings.

In the latest test cricket grading India has obtained first place. After winning the tournament against Sri Lanka they were 15 points ahead of South Africa which occupied the second place. Sri Lanka obtained the 7th place with 90 points.


Cristiano Ronaldo: Real Madrid forward suspended for five games

Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended for five games after he was sent off in Real Madrid's 3-1 win against Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup first leg on Sunday. He was given a one-match ban for being shown two yellow cards and a further four for pushing the referee in the back after he had been sent off. The bookings at the Nou Camp were for taking off his shirt to celebrate his goal to make it 2-1 and for a dive.He will miss Wednesday's second leg.Ronaldo, 32, will have 10 days to appeal.

Ashwin's county cricket stint confirmed

India offspinner R Ashwin, who had been left out of the limited-overs leg of the tour of Sri Lanka, will play county cricket this season. He could be available as early as Worcestershire's match against Gloucestershire starting on August 28. ESPNcricinfo had earlier reported that Worcestershire had shown interest in availing Ashwin's services towards the end of their season. Ashwin's India team-mate left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja is also in talks with the counties, but it as yet unclear whom he will play for.

Najam Sethi elected chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board

Newly-elected chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board Najam Sethi says one of the challenges for him is to bring back international cricket to Pakistan. 69 year old Mr Sethi, will replace Shaharyar Khan, who quit because of health and personal reasons after completing his tenure.

Mr Sethi was unopposed and was unanimously elected by a new nine-member PCB board of governors. Pakistan’s deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had appointed Sethi as member of the board of governors last month.

It is mandatory, according to the PCB’s constitution, that the chairman should be elected from the members of the board of governors. Zimbabwe has been the only team to visit Pakistan since a terrorist attack on the Sri Lanka cricket team’s bus in Lahore in 2009.

Philippe Coutinho: Liverpool reject Barcelona's £90m bid for Brazil star

Liverpool have rejected a bid of 100 million euros from Barcelona for Brazil playmaker Philippe Coutinho. Barca's second bid for the 25-year-old, which was rejected immediately, comprised an initial 85 million euros plus 15 million euros in add-ons. Liverpool have reiterated that Coutinho - who joined them from Inter Milan for 8.5 million euros in 2013 - is not for sale. Barcelona sold Brazil forward Neymar to Paris St-Germain for a world record transfer of 200 million euros last week.(BBC)
