Speaking in Parliament today Former Prime Minister: Ranil Wickremasinghe said, the issues faced by the Tamil community have still not been resolved He pledged to act in a manner which ensures the rights of the Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims, and all communities within a unitary state.

He further stated, the Provincial Council system will be strengthened. He acknowledged, there have been drawbacks during his government. He noted, when he assumed power in 2015, democracy had been weakened.

Parliament convened at 1.00pm today, chaired by Speaker Karu Jayasooriya. MPs representatives the United People’s Freedom Alliance boycotted today’s parliamentary session, saying the Speaker’s actions are biased and unconstitutional. Speaking in Parliament today, Parliamentarian: Lakshman Kiriella said, no one can move Courts against affairs taken up in Parliament. Also speaking in Parliament today, Parliamentarian Mangala Samaraweera said, the United National Front has been able to win the world.

However, Leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna: Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake expressed his disappointment that the main political parties have converted politics into a business.

Parliament is set to reconvene on the 18th of this month, at 1.00pm.
