UNP Leader says his party’s stance is to hold a General Election, only at the point at which all parties consent to go for a General Election

Leader of the United National Party: Ranil Wickremasinghe says if a General Election needs to be called, first a legitimate government needs to be sworn-in, and a proposal calling for a General Election needs to be passed in Parliament.

Speaking at a media briefing held at Temple Trees yesterday he said, his party’s stance is to hold a General Election, only at the point at which all parties consent to go for a General Election.

He further stated, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna is also of the same stance.
