150 development projects in Polonnaruwa will be vested with the public in the 1st week of August

President Maithripala Sirisena says, 150 new development projects will be vested with the public from 1st to the 3rd of August under the "Re-awakening Polonnaruwa programme". The president made this comment participating in a religious programme held at the Dimbulagala Forest Hermitage this morning. The president declared open the newly constructed Sanga Wasaya and building complex at the Dimbulagala pirivena. The president further said that, drinking water schemes irrigation and road development projects health facilities development programmes are also among the development activities implemented in the Polonnaruwa district.

Meanwhile, our correspondent reports that tens and thousands of devotees have gathered to Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and other sacred cities at present to mark the Poson Poya day. About 500 thousand devotees have observed Sil in Anuradhapura Atamasthanaya, Polonnaruwa, Somawathiya, Thanthirimalaya and other temples in Raja-Rata . Other religious places in Kelaniya, Kandy, Katharagama, Sithulpauwwa, Mahiyanganaya. Kalutara are also full of pilgrims and devotees.

The Poson Maha Perehera organized at the Tissaamaha Rama Raja Maha Viharaya will parade the streets tonight under the patronage of Minister Sajith Premadasa. Dhansals and Poson zones have been set up in many places island-wide.
