More than 50 billion rupees allocated this year, for 'Enterprise-Sri Lanka'

Minister Mangala Samaraweera says, more than 50 billion rupees has been allocated this year, for the Enterprise-Sri Lanka Programme. The government, through this endeavour, is providing its fullest support, for upcoming entrepreneurs to grow their enterprises to a stable level, with their very own efforts.

Significantly, women who venture into business endeavours will receive an additional 10 percent to the loan they apply for, under this scheme. Disabled soldiers and other differently-abled citizens will receive an additional 10 percent interest subsidy.

Four leading State Banks will open a special counter from the 1st of July named: "Enterprise-Sri Lanka". Small and medium scale entrepreneurs can obtain loans upto 750 million rupees.

The Enterprise-Sri Lanka Exhibition will begin at Monaragala on the 16th of August. Thereafter, it will be taken to Anuradhapura.

Minister Samaraweera added, the government plans to create entrepreneurs out of youth who were not selected for university, depending on their capabilities. The prime objective of this endeavour is to make the competent entrepreneurs of the country the 'new engine of the economy'. Thereby, it is planned to create 100,000 entrepreneurs within the next year.
