200 million rupees to be assigned for each divisional secretariat zone, under the 'Gamperaliya Accelerated Rural Development Programme'

The 'Gamperaliya Accelerated Rural Development Programme' will be expanded islandwide. The programme was launched in Monaragala recently. The government intends to carry forward with this programme, the 'Grama Shakthi Programme' introduced upon a concept of the President, and the Development Drive to reconstruct road networks and housing facilities in rural areas introduced by the Premier. The sum allocated for Gamperaliya is 64 billion rupees. Under this allocation, 200 million rupees will be assigned for specific tasks in each divisional secretariat zone.

4000 reservoirs in rural areas will be reconstructed within the next 2 years. Each divisional secretariat zone will have a 'Green Park', with Wi-Fi facilities. In addition, a library, a fitness centre and a Yoga meditation centre will also be included. The government also intends to have an Advisory Service Centre for entrepreneurs at these parks.

Weekly fairs commonly known as 'Sathi Pola' will be 'modernised'. Religious sites will also undergo renovations.

As a primary step, from the 1st of July, sanitation facilities will be provided for 25,000 families in the Monaragala district.
