The Premier points out the need to introduce ultra-modern technology that is used worldwide in agriculture, to the country

The Agayadama - Value Chain Development Programme launched by the Ministry of Social Welfare and Primary Industries commenced yesterday. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. Speaking at the event the Premier pointed out the need to introduce ultra-modern technology that is used worldwide in agriculture to the country.

Also attending the ceremony, Minister Daya Gamage said, for every five villages, an export based agriculture village will be established. It is also intended to increase the revenue earned by the export of cinnamon to one billion US dollars. Financial assistance from the World Bank amounting to 400 million rupees is expected to develop prawn farms. He pointed out the government received a revenue of 180 million rupees by exporting saplings of export crops
