President holds a special meeting with religious and community leaders regarding the present situation in Kandy.

President Maithripala Sirisena held a special meeting at the president's house in Kandy yesterday with the religious and community in Kandy district, regarding the situation erupted there. Members of Maha Sanga representing Malwatta and Asgiri chapters, Muslim Moulawi and other religious of the area were present at this meeting. The President pointed out the need of religious leaders to eliminate the fear and suspicion among the communities and to maintain peace and harmony in the area. Muslim Ministers Rauf Hakeem, A.L.M Haleem, Faizer Mautafa and several MPs also participated in this crucial discussion. The religious leaders said that, some social media networks have worsen the situation by spreading false comments and posts. The president instructed all the relevant parties to work collectively to establish lasting peace in the area. The president stressed that the culprits will be brought to book disregarding their social status.
