Strict actions will be carried out under emergency regulations.

Defence Secretary Kapila Vaidyarathne reiterates that strict actions will be carried out under emergency regulations. Accordingly, the general public are advised not to get carried away through rumors and substandard wrong news feeds. If anyone is found guilty on these counts, they will be dealt with strict laws and regulations.

Meanwhile, Additional Solicitor General Yasantha Kodagoda said maximum punishment will be given to those who violate the regulations and involve in sabotage work. Those who create racial violence or break the law will also be punished severely.

Under emergency regulations, the Inspector General of Police has ordered a curfew to be imposed within the Kandy administrative district from 4.00pm yesterday to 4.00pm today.
The Government has requested people in the Kandy administrative district to remain at their homes during the curfew which has been imposed in the area. It is totally prohibited for general public to loiter in public places or to visit such areas during the period of curfew. Violation of curfew is a punishable offence.
Meanwhile, the ministry of education has announced that all schools in the Kandy district will remain close until further notice.
