The Premier requests the citizens of the country to conduct themselves, at this decisive moment, in an intelligent manner.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe observes that the incidents that took place during the past few days are not 'instant upheavals'. Those defeated are making frantic efforts to consolidate power by enticing racism and violence. These are pre-meditated tactics. Speaking in Parliament yesterday, he highlighted the fact that a country that has suffered a three-decade-long conflict, knows the value of 'peace' only too well. The premier highly appreciated the steps taken by the police and defense units in establishing law and order.
He further stated that the government has taken maximum measures to bring the tense situation, under control. He added that the government will take steps to provide compensation for loss of life and damage to property. He requested the citizens of the country to conduct themselves, at this decisive moment, in an intelligent manner.
