All provinces to be covered, under the 2nd stage of the Suwa Seriya Emergency Ambulance Service.

An agreement was signed at Temple Trees yesterday in the presence of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasighe to obtain 209 ambulances under the 2nd stage of the Suwa Seriya Emergency Ambulance Service. Representing Sri Lanka Deputy Minister Dr.Harsha De Silva and representing India High Commissioner Tharanjith Singh Sandhu, signed the agreement. The 88 ambulances that were received under the 1st phase have been deployed in the western and southern provinces.  Those that will be received under the 2nd phase will be deployed covering all districts in the country. The launch of this Emergency Ambulance Service has created over 550 employment opportunities in the country. Speaking at the occasion the premier said, when a country is progressing towards development the fields of health and education need to be strengthened. He pointed out that the Suwa Seriya Service can be described as part of the long term friendship between India and Sri Lanka.
