750 dignitaries representing 84 countries to take part in United Nations Wesak day celebrations.

Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Buddhist Affairs says that dignitaries representing 84 countries are taking part at this Wesak Day celebrations which will begin on Friday. They expected number of representatives are exceeding 750. They all have confirmed their participation.

Bangladesh, Cambodia, South Korea, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal, Malaysia, United Kingdom , France , Germany, Russia and Singapore are the countries representing at celebrations. An special exposition of sacred tooth relic has been organized for the visiting dignitaries . When the exposition was announced the numbers of participation has gone up. The chief guest at the inaugural ceremony is Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modhi. The chief guest at the conclusion ceremony is Nepali President Bidya Devi Bandhari.

Ministers from 8 different countries are also taking part in the ceremony. Indian Prime Minister arrives in the island on Thursday by 6.00pm and expected to be ceremoniously received by Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe. Nepali president is arriving on Saturday afternoon and there too the reception will be done by Prime Minster Wickremasinghe. Both of the leaders will be received with state honours.
