The President pays last respects to demised Mahanayaka of Amarapura Maha Nikaya, the Most Venerable Davuldena Sri Gnanissara thera Today.

President Maithripala Sirisena paid last respects to demised Mahanayaka of Amarapura Maha Nikaya, the Most Venerable Davuldena Sri Gnanissara thera Yesterday. The mortal remains of the Mahanayake Thera are lying at Sri Vidya Vijayaramaya in Pagoda, Nugegoda.

The President also conveyed his condolence to the Buddhist monks of Amarapura chapter. Late Most Venerable Davuldena Sri Gnanissara thera has rendered a yeoman service for the betterment of Buddha Shasana in the country.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe conveyed his condolence to the demised Most Venerbale Davuldena Sri Gnanissara thera today. The premier stated in his condolence message that most Venerable Thera set an example to the world countries in promoting Buddhism. The Thero also visited the Buddhist countries such as Thailand and Myanmar and contributed a lot for the betterment of Buddhism.

US also conveyed its condolence to demised Mahanayaka of Amarapura Maha Nikaya, the Most Venerable Davuldena Sri Gnanissara thera. The condolence message is sent on behalf of the American Ambassador in Sri Lanka and the people of America. The late most venerable Thero has been instrumental in strengthening bilateral ties between the Sri Lankan public and American people.

The leader of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Minister Rauff Hakeem also conveyed his condolence to the demised Mahanayaka of Amarapura Maha Nikaya, the Most Venerable Davuldena Sri Gnanissara thera. Minister stated that Thero has done a yeoman service in building the reconciliation and coexistence between the communities in Sri Lanka.
