The government says the provincial council election will be held under the old system. State Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena says the government has decided to conduct the provincial council elections under the old system within the next three months' time. The president and the Prime Minister have given the necessary advises to the Elections Commission. The minister revealed these information at a media conference held in Colombo yesterday.

Issuing a statement yesterday, Mr.Lasantha Alagiyawanna says that the reports published on UNP Social Media about him are totally false and baseless. He said that, he condemned such publications when he has gone abroad for an important family matter.

Mr.Alagiyawanna said that, he would commit himself to move forward under the leadership of the President and the Prime Minister.

A complaint against the speaker to Bribery commission.

The National University Teachers Association submitted a complaint against Speaker Karu Jayasuriya to Bribery and Corruption investigation commission yesterday. The complaint says the speaker has backtracked the promise he made earlier of accepting the new Prime Minister appointed by the the president. Under this circumstance, the speaker has not only changed his word, but also violated the constitution norms. This is also considered as an act with internal motives, therefore, the association suspects that the speaker has acted in a biased manner with some corruptive motives. This can be considered as a bribed act.

This wrong information was spread in the media by some bankrupt elements. There is no truth in this information. The government information department requests the general public not to fall prey to these malicious campaigns by some bankrupt politicians. The department request the general public to follow the instruction and information released by government information department.

The government is to hold provincial council election within next few months.

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera says that the government intends to hold the provincial council elections within the next few months. Speaking at a function held at the government information department premises, he further stated that the President has appointed has the Prime minister and the cabinet constitutionally and it cannot be agreed with the Speaker if he work not following the constitution. Professor Gamini Samaranayake says that the formation of new government by the President is a wise decision taken by him as a politician for the sake of the country and the people. The previous government did not fulfill the pledges made by them and worked on another agenda. While participating in Subarathi programme over the SLBC this morning, Professor Samaranayake further said that the decision taken by the President on the 26th of October reflects his political maturity.

The President has vested with the public a middle income housing project at Mulleriyawa, Mandawila

The middle income housing project at Mulleriyawa, Mandawila was vested with the public yesterday, under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena. The president said that, the programme to provide a secured house with basic facilities for each family in the country was successful as the housing projects were implemented under a national plan. The target group of the project was the professionals who are working in the main city of the country. Bank loan facilities have been provided to them to purchase houses.

Speaking on the occasion minister Patalie Champika Ranawaka said that, an aesthetic village would be built in Piliyandala under the Chinese government assistance.
