The Planters' Association of Ceylon and the Plantations Owners Association states, it is their intention to arrive at an agreement with the Estate Sector Trade Unions on the issue concerning estate worker wages.

Speaking at a media briefing held in Colombo today, Representative of the Planter's Association of Ceylon: Roshan Rajadurai said, they have no reluctance in increasing wages, but face difficulties in this regard. He further stated, the revenue of the tea industry has come down by 250 million rupees, owing to the strike launched by Estate Sector Trade Unions.

The Police have launched a computer programme on recovering lost or stolen mobile phones. Assistance in this regard has been provided by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission. The inauguration ceremony was held at the Police Headquarters, under the patronage of IGP Pujith Jayasundera, this morning. Representatives of mobile service providers were also in attendance.

Through this new programme the public can lodge a complaint with the Police over the internet, with regard to lost or stolen mobile phones. The programme also provides the facility to verify the genuinely of a mobile phone, at the time of purchase. It is reported, currently, between 800 to 1000 complaints pertaining to lost or stolen mobile phones are received by the Police, on a daily basis.

The United National Party Leader says he is prepared to conduct an election with the approval of all political parties.

The United National Party Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe says the Prime Minister and the Cabinet suitable to the country is the United National Party cabinet including him. He said that the tourism industry has collapsed and the price of goods has increased. During a meeting in Galle he said that according to the constitution the person with the majority in Parliament should become the Prime Minister.
