Transport authorities round up 235 private buses that did not issue tickets.

235 passenger buses in Colombo district which have not issued tickets to the commuters have been rounded up.  Mr. Jagath Perera the general manager of the western province  transport authority said that his officials conducted the rounding up operation yesterday.   Instantly, the conductors have been issued with fine notes. Officials have inspected 699 private buses.  The general manager said the authority had deployed 8 group of officials for the purpose.  The authority hopes to impose a fine to those commuters who do not obtain a ticket.   Educating passengers over the issues began yesterday.  From  Monday, the authority hopes to commence examining private buses in Gampaha district.  The same programme will commence in Kalutara district on coming Thursday.
