A group of Indian fishing authorities will arrive in the country shortly to discus on issues relating to fishing between Sri Lanka and India. The delegation comprises officials in the fishing, defence and foreign ministries as well as representatives of the states of Tamilnadu and Andra pradesh. The talks will be conducted on the 13th and 14th of next month. Minister Rajitha Senarathne said that Sri Lankan fishermen are not being arrested only in the state of Tamilnadu. Therefore, authorities in the states of Andra Pradesh, Vishaka Patnam and Orissa will also attend.  Minister Senarathne added that 780 local fishermen were incarcerated in India during the time he took over the fisheries ministry. This number has now reduced to 22. He further said that there are 260 production centres in Tamilnadu affiliated to the fisheries industry. Most of them export fish to the European countries.
