The ‘Mul Roo Handa’ awards presentation ceremony to felicitate announcers in who had contributed significantly to the local media field, has taken place at the BMICH in Colombo last evening.
The services of media presenters who conducted an exemplarily service in the initial era of the radio and the television were evaluated. It was organized by the Voice of Lanka foundation. A group of Sri Lanka broadcasting corporation announcers, including the first female announcer Prabha Ranathunga, Ariyadasa Peiris, Gunathunga K. Liyanage, Shreema Rajakaruna, Berty Galahitiyawa, Elmo Fernando, Rajeshwari SChanmugam and Vijaya Korea were felicitated. Chairman of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation Hudson Samarasinghe who was felicitated with the special tribute, ‘the heroic lion voice of the Sri Lankan media’ by the Indian business communication group was also appreciated. |
