The nation bids farewell to the late music maestro Pandit W.D.Amaradewa today.

Final rites of the late Dr.Pandit Amaradewa  will be held today at the Independence Square in Colombo under full state honours. Massive crowds are now gathering to pay their last respects to the late Veteran Maestro. He is   considered as the brand name of indigenous Sri Lankan music by many critics.  All arrangements have been finalized to conduct the cremation  in most respectful manner. President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime minister Ranil Wickremasinghe have instructed the relevant officials to provide every possible support for occasion. Many distinguished people, diplomats also come to the Independence Square to pay their last respect. Former president Chandrika Bandaranayake was also among the crowd last night. The religious observances prior to the cremation will be held at 3.30 pm today   

Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation will bring live broadcast of the cremation .
