The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says that there is no fuel shortage in the country.

Deputy Minister of Petroleum Resources Development Anoma Gamage says as there is no shortage of the fuel in the country, the public need not have any undue fear. The government is in position of fuel stocks sufficient for three weeks. Speaking to the SLBC, she further stated that a ship carrying 40,000 metric tons of fuel is due to dock at the Colombo Harbour within the next few days. The reason for the rejection of the same quantity of fuel that was received last week was due to the stock not being of accepted standards. She added that steps have also been taken to increase the release of oil at refineries to 750 metric tons per day.
