The President and the Premier condole over the demise of veteran actor Wimal Kumara De Costa.

President Maithripala Sirisena has conveyed his condolences over the demise of veteran actor Wimal Kumara De Costa. Issuing a condolence message the President points out Costa was an actor required most by the film makers of the new cinema trend which began in the latter part of 1970's. The guidance received by Sri Lankan theatre greats such as Sugathapala De Silva helped him to become a talented actor. The President points out revolutionary cinematic creations such as Ahas Gauwa, Bambaru Awith and Soldadu Unnahe reflect the versatility of Wimal Kumara De Costa as an actor.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe has also conveyed his condolences over the demise of veteran actor Wimal Kumara De Costa. Issuing a condolence message the premier points out he is an actor who won the hearts of Sri Lankan film lovers through performances unique to him. Wimal Kumara De Costa was also a pioneering figure in promoting miming in the Sri Lankan arts field. The Prime Minister also points out he contributed immensely to make the 70's the golden era of Sri Lankan cinema.
