A group of European parliamentarians visits Sri Lanka.


A four member delegation from the European parliament will arrive in the country for an official visit on today. The delegation is led by Chair of the delegation for relations with countries of South Asia Jean Lambert. During their visit the representatives will focus attention on the progress on national reconciliation and ways to empower
Sri Lankan women politically and economically. They will also look at the ground work laid for a successful GSP plus applications. The members of the European parliament will visit Colombo, Trincomalee and Batticaloa to meet government, local government, parliamentary and civil society representatives. They are also scheduled to review the progress of the projects carried out in Trincomalee and Batticaloa with the support of the European Union.
