The Police arrest two more international drug racketeers.


Two main suspects involved in a heroine drug racket between Pakistan and Maldives centering Sri Lanka have been arrested. They were detained by the Police Narcotics Bureau at Dehiwala area during early hours of today. Heroine capsules weighing 385 grams were also found in their possession. Director of the Police Media Division SP Ruwan Gunasekera says the two suspects are being questioned continuously after obtaining a detention order.

Sajin de Vaas Gunawardena, who was arrested on charges of financial fraud, has been released on bail.

Former parliamentarian Sajin de Vass Gunawardena, who was arrested on charges of financial fraud, has been released on bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate. He was ordered released on a cash bail of Rs 500,000 and 4 personal bails of Rs 500,000 each after being produced before Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilipitiya today.  His passport was also impounded.

A railway engine collided on the Rambukkana-Colombo train at Vilwatta station.

A railway engine collided on the Rambukkana-Colombo train which was stopped at the Vilwatta railway station. Two passengers have been injured and hospitalized. The Railway Control Room says the accident will cause delays for the trains plying between Mirigama and Ambepussa
