By last night over 5,000 pilgrims arrived at Nallathanni for the Sripadha pilgrimage.
The inspector of the Nallathanni police Anil Jayasinghe said this is the higher number of pilgrims reported in the recent history. At present there is a heavy congestion of vehicles in the area. There is a huge congestion because of a large of pilgrims arrived on the Nallathanni road and the Ratnapura Palabedda road. Vehicles have been parked for stretch of about 12 kilometers from Nallathanni to Mausakele and this has obstructed traffic on the Hatton road. The traffic police informs that at present vehicle traffic via Watawala road has been temporarily suspended. Nuwara Eliya District Secretary D.P.G.Kumarasiri said that all arrangements have been made to provide the necessary facilities to the pilgrims. |
