Today is the Milad-un-Nabi, birth day of the Holy Prophet Mohammed. President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his message to mark Milad-un-Nabi, says the Holy Prophet Mohammed’s birth reflects on the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohammed. We all can look forward to building a new Sri Lanka of tolerance, understanding and reconciliation which will no doubt help in Sri Lanka’s forward march.

The President further says that he is pleased to send greetings to the followers of Islam in Sri Lanka, as they join their brethren in faith the world over, to celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet Mohammed.

With the prevailing peace and accelerated development in all parts of the country, the teachings of the Holy Prophet which emphasizes that peace and harmony are even more relevant today. Islam promotes non-violence, brotherhood and mutual understanding, Cooperation and tolerance are also upheld.

Prime Minister D.M. Jayarathne says Muslims throughout the country are able to mark the birth of holy prophet in peace and harmony since the President has created a peaceful environment in the country by eliminating terrorism. The Prime Minister requests all Muslim brothers to unite to steer the country towards lasting peace and prosperity. 

Senior Minister A.H.M. Fauzie says follow of Prophet Mohammed’s policies are very much important today to secure peace and harmony in the country. 

Meanwhile, the Milad-un-Nabi national festival will be held in Darul Ulam Ravilatul Jenna Arabic College in Ratnapura this morning.
