President Mahinda Rajapakse says Deyata Kirula Exhibition is not merely a tamasha but a display of future prosperity in the country.  Anuradhapura area was selected to hold the 64th national Independence Day celebrations this year considering the historical value of the Anuradhapura city.  President made these remarks after declared opening the Deyata Kiriula exhibition site in Oyamaduwa in Anuradhapura this evening.
The President further said  that Anuradhapura is the first kingdom in Sri Lanka an it can be considered as the unique ancient civilization.  Even though Sri Lanka had faced a number of invasions from alien forces as a strong kingdom the rulers had been able to safe guard the independence of the country.  However, due to many reasons the kingdom was abandoned and the rulers moved away from the city for their security.  

As pledged by the Mahinda Chintana policy manifesto the Government is committed to develop the rural areas with all modern facilities.  The aim of this move is to enhance the livelihood of rural people.  The Government  has been able to transfer the benefits of victory over terrorism during the past 3 years.  The President reveled that cities like Polonnarywa, Ampara, Batticaloa, Trincomalee in the Eastern Province will be subjected to a rapid development in concurrence with the 65th National Independence Day next year.


Making the welcome address Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that this Exhibition has opened the path of development for the people in the North Central province who suffered immensely by the 3 decades long war.


The exhibition is opened for the public from today to 10th of this month. The exhibition at the 600 acre site is the biggest Deyata Kirula exhibition to be conducted so far. Each days features are being enriched by a daily parachute display. In addition displays of the three armed forces, sports competitions have also been organized. There are exhibition stalls of all ministries and private sector institutions. Admission is free to school children in uniforms and teachers. Others should purchase 20 rupees development lottery ticket. Each visitor to the exhibition is being ensured for a sum of one million rupees.
