The “Deyata Kirula” National exhibition at Oyamaduwa in the Anuradhapura was ceremonially declared open by President Mahinda Rajapaksa short while ago. In the opening ceremony the President said Anuradhapura area was selected to hold the 64th national Independence Day celebrations considering the historical value of the Anuradhapura city. The President said Anuradhapura and the surrounding areas have been subjected to a great development in concurrence to the Deyata Kirula National Exhibition. The exhibition is open for the public from today to 10th of this month.Secretary of the organizing committee Udaya Senevirathne says the exhibition at the 600 acre site in Oyamaduwa is the biggest Deyata Kirula exhibition to be conducted so far. Each days features are being enriched by a daily parachute display. In addition displays of the three armed forces, sports competitions have also been organized. There are exhibition stalls of all ministries and private sector institutions. Admission is free to school children in uniforms and teachers. Others should purchase 20 rupees development lottery ticket. Each visitor to the exhibition is being ensured for a sum of one million rupees. Secretary to the Ministry of Mass Media and Information W.B.Ganegala says a media zone will be included in the exhibition this year as well. The public will have the opportunity to study about the new trends in the media field with the use of modern technology. A special channel titled ‘Deyata Kirula FM’ is aired in the cite to make the viewers aware of government’s development programme. The student population and teachers will have free access to view the Exhibition. The students should wear school uniforms when they are accompanied by teachers. The public entry will be a Rs.20/- lottery ticket to be purchased at the exhibition premises |
