Prices of vegetables sharply decreased. |

Prices of vegetables have decreased sharply. Businessmen attributed this price decrease to arrival of large stocks of vegetable harvest to the market this week. Nuwara Eliya District Secretary D.P.G. Kumarasiri told SLBC that whole sale prices of vegetables have decreased due to the implementation of Divi Neguma home gardening programme. Government’s fertilizer subsidy is also a cause for abundance of vegetables. Under the Divi Neguma programme number of home gardens in the Nuwara Eliya district has increased from 53,000 to 73,000 during the past few months.
