Sri Lanka’s Shehan Abeypitiya has become South Asia’s fastest man. He became the fastest sprinter in South Asia by ending the final of the 100 metre event of the 11th South Asian games in Dhaka today clocking 10.47 seconds. By this evening Sri Lanka gained another 3 gold medals, one silver and 3 bronze medals. Chamila Dilrukshi won gold in the women’s long jump and Fathima Kieshn won gold for Sri Lanka in the 67 kilogram category in Taikwondo. Accordingly, Sri Lanka has risen to 3rd place in the overall medals table. They have gained 16 Gold, 30 Silver and 38 Bronze. 22 out of 23 events of the Sag games will conclude tonight with the men’s marathon beginning at 6 am tomorrow. The closing ceremony of the South Asian Games contested by 8 countries will be held at 4 pm tomorrow at the Bangabandu Stadium in Dhaka.
