Many more countries have congratulated President Mahinda Rajapakse for emerging victorious at the recent presidential election. The heads of states of the relevant countries express belief that President Rajapakse will create sustainable development in Sri Lanka.
In the message sent by the President of Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Triet says that the president’s leadership will pave the way to Sri Lanka to achieve economic development in the same manner it overcame the challenge of terrorism. The Vietnamese president also expresses belief that it will increase the Sri Lanka’s profile in the region and the world. The government of Japan has also congratulated President Rajapakse on gaining victory at the recent presidential election. Issuing a statement Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Katsuya Okada says that the Japanese government hopes people of Sri Lanka will unite to rebuild the country under the president’s leadership. The minister also expresses belief that the government of Sri Lanka will swiftly complete the resettlement process which has made a remarkable progress since last October. Furthermore, the government of Japan expects that under the leadership of president Rajapakse the government of Sri Lanka will steadily carry forward political process to create national reconciliation. In the messages sent by Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Than Shwe, says Sri Lanka will further progress towards peace and prosperity in the years to come under the leadership of president Rajapakse. President of Pakistan Asif Al Sardari in his message says that the bilateral relations between the two countries will be further strengthened in the future. |
