The Ministry of Public Administration and Home Affairs said that handing over of appointment letters to the newly recruited officers of the management service and Grama Niladaries will be held shortly under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. 3,000 persons will be recruited to the management service while nearly 5,000 persons will be recruited for the Grama Nildari division.

The Ministry told the SLBC that with these appointments many vacancies in both services will be fulfilled. This includes vacancies in the northern and eastern provinces as well. The Secretary to the Ministry P.B. Abeykoon said that a written test will be held next year as well to select suitable candidates for the remaining positions.
