Resettlement in the Jaffna peninsula will be completed on Wednesday. Seven thousand persons living in nine welfare villages in Jaffna will be resettled before the 4th of this month. So far 11 thousand IDPs of these villages have been resettled. De-mining activities are also being carried out. The Army has commenced de-mining in the Vedithaltivu area. Northern Province Governor Major General G.A. Chandrasiri said resettled has begun in the Yoda Wewa area which is now free of landmines. He told SLBC that the new surgery of the Vavuniya General Hospital and the medical quarters will be declared open tomorrow.
