The Chairman of the Committee on Receiving Public Opinion over the Constitutional Amendment requests not to use its report for fulfilling petty political advantages and instigating racism and religious extremism.

Chairman of the Committee on Receiving Public Opinions on Constitutional Amendments Senior Lawyer Lal Wijenayaka says the report of the Committee has been subjected to debate in the society.  He added that the report should not be misused for obtaining petty political advantages and instigating racism and religious extremism.  Mr. Wijenayaka was speaking at a media briefing held in Colombo today.   He also said that the Committee has been compiled based on 20 major components.  The Council to formulate the constitution will consider some recommendations given by the Committee report.  Mr. Wijenayaka further said that the opinions that were expressed by the general public have been reported as they are.  The report will also be put on the Web in the future.
